The National Police Commission-Region VI (Napolcom-6) has begun their investigation into two Negros Occidental police officers. Napolcom-6 director, Atty. Joseph Celis, said the cases surrounding Patrolman Bryn Jephtha Gimotea, who was arrested for smoking marijuana, and Police Corporal Romnick Pacificar, who was involved in triple shooting incident, have been turned over to the Internal Affairs Service.
Celis said the results are expected to be released within two weeks and, if they find probable cause, the two will likely face administrative charges.
The regional Napolcom director added, his office is the “supervising agency” of the Philippine National Police and it is unavoidable that some “bad eggs” managed to make it into the police organization.
Last week, Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año issued a stern warning against abusive and erring cops calling their actions “unacceptable.”
Año also warned police officers and other uniformed personnel to provide proper service to the public, adding, he will chase them down himself if he discovers they are involved in inappropriate or illicit activities./DGB, WDJ
