Italy crushes PHL, 108-62

After Joseller ‘Yeng’ Guiao, head coach for the Philippine men’s national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, earlier called their game against Italy the “most important” as he believed it was the one they had the best chance of winning, at the end of their 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup game last Saturday at the Foshan International Sports and Cultural Center in China, Italy pulled off a massive 108-62 demolition of the Philippine squad.
The Italian side got to a quick start, taking a 37-8 edge in the first quarter, which expanded to 62-24 at halftime. They went on to lead by as much as 52 points.
Luigi Datome and Amadeo della Valle led Italy with 17 points apiece, while Danilo Gallinari fired four triples and finished with 16 markers, and Marco Bellinelli added nine points.
For Gilas, Andray Blatche and Jaymar Perez each added 15 points.
