While speaking during yesterday’s “Justice Zone” launch at the Bacolod City Government Center, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año yesterday issued a stern warning against abusive and erring cops amid a report of a police officer shooting three individuals earlier this week and a jail guard involved in a shooting in Iloilo.
Año called their actions “unacceptable” and said they must be held liable for their actions.
The DILG secretary said, “Public service in itself is a reward since the president had already raised their wages and any type of foolish behavior is prohibited.
“A lot of people wanted to enter into public service,” he added. “We will give it to deserving individuals [but], if there are any scalawags, we’ll remove them.”
Año also warned police officers and other uniformed personnel to provide proper service to the public, adding, he will chase them down himself if he discovers they are involved in inappropriate or illicit activities./DGB, WDJ
