After Senator Risa Hontiveros revealed a supposed “hitlist” by a group called the Kawsa Guihulnganon Batok Kumunista, or Kagubak, which supposedly opposes the New People’s Army and communist ideology, during a public hearing earlier this week, Philippine National Police Director-General Oscar Albayalde yesterday said law enforcement will be conducting an investigation into the organization.
The police official said it is the first time they had heard of the group; noting, Police Regional Office-7 (PRO-7) was also unaware of their presence.
During the hearing, the senator claimed the list needed to be “seriously looked into” as one of those listed was Atty. Anthony Trinidad, who was killed by riding-in-tandem suspects in Guihulngan City last month.
PRO-7 director, Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas, who was also present at the hearing, concluded the supposed list was election related./DGB, WDJ
