The Motolite Power Builders scored a 25-14, 25-18, 25-23 sweep over the Philippine Air Force Lady Jet Spikers last Wednesday at the San Juan Arena.
Myla Pablo tallied 15 points for Motolite, including 14 attacks; while Diana Carlos added 14 markers, three service aces, and three blocks.
After easily taking the first two sets, Motolite was tested in the third frame.
With Motolite trailing 15-9, Pablo and Carlos pushed the match to an 18-18 tie. After advancing the set to a 23-all deadlock, Carlos put Motolite ahead 24-23 with an off-the-block hit before Maria Lina Molde nailed her own off-the-block hit to wrap up the match.
“The first and second sets were convincing,” said Motolite head coach Godfrey Okumu. “The third set, we started slow.”
“We seemed to be making an effort in things that we [are] supposed to do effortlessly,” he added.
In the other match, the BanKo Perlas Spikers also swept their opponents, pulling off a 25-18, 25-20, 25-23 win over the Choco Mucho Flying Titans./ASC, WDJ
