Research conducted by web hosting company GoDaddy found small businesses are relying more on an online presence to ensure growth with 53 percent of respondents already with a company website or have one in the works, along with another 24 percent that rely solely on social media to grow their business.
“Small business owners and entrepreneurs are continually adapting to change, both in their own venture and to external challenges,” said GoDaddy-Asia Marketing Director Tina Shieh. “Now is the time for Filipino entrepreneurs to consider taking their venture online and experience the benefits an online presence can have for their venture.”
Local governments in Iloilo have recently expanded their online presence.
Earlier this month, the Iloilo City government announced, amid plans to provide faster services to city residents, they will be partnering with Smart Communications to bring innovative technology to the city, including access to a mobile payment option.
“They will introduce a mobile payment application,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas. “They are going to partner with us in our quest to become a ‘Smart City’ and I am very excited.”
Meanwhile, last year, the Iloilo Provincial Tourism Office launched their quick response (QR) code, which, when clicked, will provide information about tourist attractions across the province.
A total 20 Iloilo locales were among the first batch to receive the code. Codes were placed at city halls or municipal halls, where visitors would be able to scan the code on their smartphones and immediately pull up information about the area’s cultural, historical, and man-made sites./WDJ
