Negrense athlete takes home two gold medals

Romanito P. Maravilla National High School standout Franzine Alamo captured two gold medals yesterday at the 2019 Batang Pinoy national finals, winning the girls’ triple jump and participating in the 4×100 mixed relay, at the Ramon V. Mitra, Jr. Sports Complex in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Joining her on the relay team were Brineth Cupan and Marden Villaruel.
In addition, she also earned a bronze medal in the girls’ 4×100 meter relay alongside Cupan, Vanessa Framisa, and Jeamaica Estinar. Meanwhile, Bacolod City’s Krisha Dedoyco Aguillon, Shaltea Delotavo, Athena Rose Besana, and Aubrey Mae Mercado took silver in the event.
In boys’ basketball, Bacolod Tay Tung High School managed to advance to the semifinals despite a narrow loss to Davao yesterday.
They next face Mandaue this morning in order to determine seeds for the semifinals./ASC, WDJ
