Marañon scores 4; Lopez Mendy, Ott earn hat tricks

Ceres-Negros FC produced a 13-0 annihilation of Global-Makati FC yesterday in the 2019 Philippines Football League (PFL) at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa City, Batangas.
Ceres midfielder Bienvenido Marañon got things going in the 20th minute. Five minutes later, fellow midfielder Stephan Schröck doubled the lead and striker Robert Lopez Mendy scored in the 30th minute, putting the Bacolod City-based club up 3-0 within 10 minutes.
Midfielder Mike Ott then secured a 5-0 lead at halftime with goals in the 40th and 45th minutes.
At the restart, midfielder Takashi Odawara scored in the 51st minute. Then, Lopez Mendy and Marañon each picked up a brace with goals in the 56th and 59th minutes, respectively.
By the 65th minute, Ott secured his hat trick; a feat that was later matched by Lopez Mendy in the 79th minute.
With 10 minutes left in regulation time, Marañon fired off two more goals, in the 80th and 88th minute, to earn a poker. Incidentally, in their previous meeting, where Ceres destroyed Makati, 8-0, Marañon led the way after scoring half the goals of the match.
To cap things off, Ceres FC’s newest signing, midfielder James Younghusband, scored his first goal for the Negrense club in the 88th minute.
The win keeps the Negrense club atop the PFL table, six points ahead of second place Kaya FC-Iloilo at 40 points with a massive 61-point goal differential./ASC, WDJ
