University president: We are here to evangelize
Newly-elected officers of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) Mass Communication Alumni Association recently took their oaths of office at the UNO-R Mass Communication studio over the weekend.
Glazyl Masculino, a reporter for Iloilo City-based newspaper, the Daily Guardian, was sworn-in as president.
“This is the first-ever alumni association so there’s really pressure but we, the officers, are really eager to help the school, especially the department in banking the course,” she said in her message to the group.
Also taking their oaths were Merlinda Pedrosa as vice president, Frances Doren Balboa – secretary, Jiefden Rick Puntal – treasurer, Aljohn Christian Belera – assistant treasurer, Raymark Salvarita – auditor, Eden Thea Aboso and Dorel Cabatu – business managers; Girlie Carreon and Daisy May Nonato – public information officers, John Kaye Delostrico – cultural affairs coordinator, Therese Amor Panzo – social affairs coordinator, John Dale Salazar – sports coordinator, and Shiela May Gelera – overall alumni coordinator.
Meanwhile, UNO-R president, Rev. Fr. Don H. Besana, who was present for the event, touted the organization.
“Mass communication practitioners [are] really here to communicate,” he said. “We have to add another value to it and that is to communicate the word of God.”
“We are here to also evangelize,” the university president added./WDJ
