The Motolite Power Builders recently scored a 25-9, 25-20, 25-19 sweep over the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the San Juan Arena.
Myla Pablo top-scored for Motolite with 12 points, including 10 attacks; while Maria Lina Molde added nine markers and five service aces.
“It feels good to win two games in a row; even though we still have to work on a few things,” said Motolite head coach Godfrey Okumu. “Sometimes we lead and then we let the opponents close in; then we get the sense of urgency, which is not necessary.”
After easily winning the first set, Motolite were tested in the second. With the score knotted at 17-all, they scored six straight points to take a 2-0 set advantage.
In the third, Motolite surged to a 14-7 edge, which later extended to 21-12. Despite BaliPure rallying to get to within 23-19, Pablo closed the match for Motolite with consecutive points.
In the other game, BanKo Perlas Spikers secured a 25-19, 25-21, 25-16 sweep over the Chef’s Classics Red Spikers./ASC, WDJ
