Red Subay Gaming Corporation, an authorized small town lottery firm operating throughout Iloilo, may be forced to shut down due to an inability to comply with terms set by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
After President Rodrigo Duterte halted all small town lottery operations last month due to PCSO corruption allegations, operations were cleared to resume last week; however, Red Subay Gaming is facing a P390 million shortfall and, according to the firm’s legal counsel, Atty. Rommel Duron, they must sign an agreement with PCSO vowing to pay off the deficit before operations can commence.
In addition, authorized firms are also required to deposit an equivalent of three months worth of the PCSO’s share of the firm’s guaranteed monthly retail receipts. According to Duron, aside from the nearly P400 million deficit, their deposit would amount to around P333 million.
He added, of the 80 authorized agents across the country, only four have managed to comply by the terms.
The firm’s legal counsel said they have already appealed before PCSO regarding the terms but claimed, “They did not listen.”/WDJ
