Following a visit to Sum-ag National High School last week, Bacolod City lone district Rep. Greg Gasataya said he will call upon the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to look into a drainage problem that has caused flooding and resulted in stagnant water collecting around the campus.
“I will request the Department of Public Works and Highways to evaluate, assess, and make necessary recommendations on how to resolve this drainage problem,” he said.
The congressman also said he will request a budget allocation to fund the project.
Meanwhile, Engr. Jose Roger Macasero of DPWH also visited the school to observe the situation.
Earlier this year, after Bacolod City Barangays 12 and 8 were affected by flooding following heavy rains, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office officer-in-charge Dondon Parandas blamed the flooding on garbage clogging drainage systems, which prompted CDRRMO to plan declogging operations.
Last year, Gasataya affirmed flooding along the city’s main roads would “soon be a thing of the past,” attributing his projection to the flood control project along Lacson Street that was completed in late 2018./WDJ
