The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod recently passed a resolution calling for the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) and the City Engineer’s Office to conduct clearing operations on trees found obstructing city roads.
The policy, authored by City Councilor Cindy Rojas, identified CDRRMO as the “prime office” in charge of ensuring safety in the city. She pointed out, trees with overgrown branches may cause obstructions on the road, along with posing a threat to nearby homes amid the ongoing rainy season.
“The country is now under the rainy season and we are more or less expecting a considerable number of weather disruptions that might be carrying strong winds,” the city official added./DGB, WDJ
