Around 800 participants joined a blood drive yesterday at Bata National High School. The event was organized by Caraps Care, a flagship project by Abang Lingkod partylist Rep. Stephen Paduano.
“We aim to institutionalize the bloodletting activity by holding it once a year and then once every six months in the future,” the congressman said.
Paduano noted, the blood donations will be stored at the Negros First Provincial Blood Center and the Philippine National Red Cross.
Last month, amid the rising number of dengue fever cases in the province, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson affirmed reports regarding an ongoing blood supply shortage.
Other components of the program include medical assistance, scholarships, and burial assistance./DGB, WDJ
