Ravena named to Gilas roster

Ilonggo guard Kiefer Ravena was named among the final batch of players to make the roster of the Philippine men’s national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, who are set to compete in the upcoming 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The competition is scheduled to begin at the end of this month in China
“This pressure is different from everything I’ve felt,” he said.
The NLEX Road Warriors player made his return in Gilas’ 85-75 loss to Australian side, the Adelaide 36ers, over the weekend. He was coming off an 18-month suspension due to doping violations.
The other players taking up the final slots on the team include Jaymar Perez, Robert Bolick, Raymond Almazan, Paul Lee, and Andy Mark Barroca.
Gilas head coach Joseller ‘Yeng’ Guiao earlier named Andray Blatche, June Mar Fajardo, Roger Pogoy, Jeth Troy Rosario, Gabriel Norwood, and Japeth Aguilar to the team.
Gilas is drawn in Group D at the World Cup D alongside Angola, Italy, and Serbia. They face their first opponent, Italy, on August 31./ASC, WDJ
