Brgy. Balabago continues to top the list
According to the latest report by the Iloilo City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit, based on data gathered between January 1 and August 17, most of the city’s dengue fever cases have been recorded in the Jaro district, which occupies four of the top five barangays in terms of locales with the highest number of dengue fever cases reported.
Consistent with a prior report, Barangay Balabago topped the list with 79 total cases. Meanwhile, Barangay Balantang came in second with 51 cases, Barangay Tacas – 48, and Barangay Buntatala – 47.
Barangay Baldoza, located in the city’s La Paz district, came in third with 49 cases.
In addition, the West Visayas State University Medical Center and Iloilo Mission Hospital, both located in the Jaro district, were among the city’s medical facilities with the most patients seeking treatment for dengue fever. West Visayas State University Medical Center ranked second with a total of 338 cases, along with four deaths; while Iloilo Mission Hospital came in fourth with a total of 214 cases and one death.
The Western Visayas Medical Center in the city’s Mandurriao district recorded the most with 544 cases and seven deaths.
