With Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas earlier initiating the planting of ilang-ilang trees across the city, one such tree was recently planted in Sunburst Park, located in the city’s City proper district.
Executive Assistant for Environment Armando Dayrit led the planting as a means of enhancing the existing plants already present in the area.
Earlier this month, after various flowering plants were previously placed along Iloilo City roads as part of the ongoing beautification program by the Iloilo City Agriculturist Office, Treñas said more flowers are expected to be planted at public parks and district plazas.
He said the city will be planting golden shower trees, or purging cassias.
The mayor also noted, center islands, plant boxes, pocket gardens, and landscaped open spaces across the city will be utilized to further enhance the beautification project
Last May, the city announced blue butterfly pea and sunflowers would be placed along General Luna Street, in front of The Mansion and University of San Agustin; while rosy trumpet trees were planted along Ledesma Street./WDJ
