The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) has stepped anti-drug monitoring at various ports across the province following the recent seizure of P6.8 million in Sibulan, Negros Oriental earlier this week.
In a radio interview, NOPPO deputy director for administration, Police Lt. Colonel Adrian Acollador, said Negros has been long known as a transit point for illegal drugs due to the high number of ports.
He affirmed, they have not let up on their anti-illegal drugs campaign.
The police official pointed out, NOPPO made the most drug-related arrests last month in the Western Visayas.
Last Monday, operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office arrested Tim Bernard Las Piñas, Ellery Jude Alabanzas, Kathleen Caryl Tulabing, and Lesa Taganile after they recovered a total of P6.8 million of shabu in their vehicle.
Authorities said it is possible the suspects were transporting the drugs due to several upcoming celebrations scheduled in Dumaguete City, including Silliman University’s Foundation Day./DGB, WDJ
