After Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas earlier revealed there were four parties interested in upgrading of the city slaughterhouse in the Jaro district’s Barangay Tacas, the city government recently announced the number has since doubled to eight.
The mayor previously stated he was considering public-private partnerships (PPPs) for the project as the proposals are set to be reviewed by a team from the PPP Center in Manila.
Earlier this month, the city entered into a memorandum of agreement with PPP Center Executive Director Ferdinand A. Pecson.
“We are excited because this will allow us to free [up] a portion of the budget, which we will be able to use for other social projects,” the mayor said. “We look forward to a very fruitful relationship with the PPP Center.”
Meanwhile, Treñas subsequently issued an executive order creating a PPP Selection Committee.
In addition, a PPP Selection Committee and Technical Working Group orientation workshop is currently underway./WDJ
