A total of P6.8 million worth of shabu was intercepted yesterday afternoon by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives in Sibulan, Negros Oriental.
PDEA agents identified the arrested suspects as Tim Bernard Las Piñas, Ellery Jude Alabanzas, Kathleen Caryl Tulabing, and Lesa Taganile.
Based on information provided by both PDEA and the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, the suspects originated from Cebu and were bound for Dumaguete City when they made the interception.
Operatives said the seized illegal drugs weighed one kilogram.
They added, it is possible the suspects were transporting the drugs due to several upcoming celebrations scheduled in Dumaguete City, including Silliman University’s Foundation Day.
The suspects, meanwhile, refused to name where the drugs originated from. Tulabing and Taganile claimed they hitched a ride and were unaware the vehicle they were riding was transporting illegal drugs.
The four suspects face illegal drugs charges and are presently detained at the Sibulan Municipal Police Station./DGB, WDJ
