‘Eats’ travel time
By Toots Jimenez, Jr.
The recently-inaugurated Cebu Pacific Air flight route connecting the Western Visayas with northern Luzon is a sigh of relief for travelers. Pampanga, which offers access to destinations such as Baguio City, the Ilocos provinces, Subic, Zambales, San Fernando City, Mabalacat City, along with a highway connection to Metro Manila, is now just over an hour away by air.
After taking the enjoyable flight from Bacolod-Silay Airport to Clark International Airport, with a Cebu Pacific flight route from Iloilo International Airport to Clark launching simultaneously, I was first taken to a venue for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games, which will be held in New Clark City. Bases Conversion Development Authority President Vince Dizon and MTD Philippines President Patrick Nicholas David showed me around the facilities, where the modern athletic stadium and aquatic facilities are in their final stages of construction, along with residential units for the athletes.
After traveling for about an hour, arrived at the Park Inn by Radisson Clark in Angeles City, where I enjoyed a seven-course meal including the famous Pampanga sisig, pork ribs, and more.
From there, it was a visit to the Clark Museum and 4D Theater in Mabalacat City, which offers a glimpse of the history of Pampanga and the Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone.
Dinner was enjoyed at Mila’s Tokwa’t Baboy in Angeles City, which is frequented by celebrities and “known personalities.” Aside from even more Pampanga sisig, there was also crispy pata, pork tocino skewers, and tokwa’t baboy.
I also paid a visit to Aqua Planet in Mabalacat City; along with participating in a heritage luncheon at 25 Seeds in Angeles City, where I was served dishes such as macadamia kare-kare and rellenong bangus.
Another site worth noting in Angeles City is the Puning Hot Spring and Restaurant, which offers a “unique experience.”/WDJ
