By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga

Based on recent data from the Bacolod City Health Office (CHO), the number of dengue fever cases in the city has seen an over 90 percent increase from last year. Between January 1 and August 10, the city has recorded a total of 1,127 dengue-related cases.
Most of the city’s cases have been reported in Barangay Estefania with 131, while Barangay Tangub is at 85 and Barangay Villamonte currently has 76.
CHO also confirmed the city has recorded a total of six deaths as a result of dengue fever with the most recent occurring on August 2.
In response to the rising number of cases, the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod approved a P17.8 million appropriations ordinance to fund the CHO’s anti-dengue campaign.
The said budget will be taken from the 2019 Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office quick response fund./DGB, WDJ
