With the San Miguel Beermen leading the 2019 Honda PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals series against the TNT KaTropa 3-2, they can clinch their second consecutive championship this season with a win tonight. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Beermen broke the 2-2 series tie last Wednesday with a 99-94 win last Wednesday.
Despite an 85-69 deficit in the fourth quarter, consecutive baskets from Chris McCullough and June Mar Fajardo helped San Miguel narrow the gap to 85-78 with just over seven minutes left. After a triple from Roger Pogoy, the KaTropa later found themselves up 90-80 but McCullough managed to make it a three-point game with the Beermen down 90-87.
Jayson Castro then extended TNT’s edge to 93-87; however, McCullough led an 8-1 run and put his side up 95-94 with 26 seconds left in the game. The Beermen iced the win on free throws by McCullough and Chris Ross.
McCullough finished the game with 35 points, 22 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks; while Terrence Romeo added 22 points, and Fajardo contributed 16 markers./ASC, WDJ
