Following last weekend’s inauguration of the Cultural Hub of Negros Occidental, located at the Negros Museum in Bacolod City, National Commission for Culture and the Arts Executive Director Marichu Tellano said the facility was created as a means of preserving local heritage.
“One of the priorities under the PDP (Philippine Development Plan) is the chapter that is dedicated to culture and arts, specifically for the protection, promotion, and development of the Philippine culture and arts,” she explained.
Tellano added, the said development plan, which began in 2017 and is set to run until 2022, is being implemented across the country with individuals each formulating ways to “propagate the culture to the next generation.”
For Negros Cultural Foundation president Lyn Gamboa, she hopes the cultural hub continues to grow.
“We hope that with the ongoing development of our spaces in the museum, more benefactors and donors [will] come forward to support our initiatives, which benefit the province of Negros and the communities that we serve,” she pointed out.
Among the features of the venue include the black box theater, an exhibition lobby, conference rooms, galleries, among other components./WDJ
