Following Kaya FC-Iloilo’s 1-0 win over Green Archers United earlier in the day, which put them even on points with Ceres-Negros FC in the 2019 Philippines Football League, the Negrense club put themselves back in solo first place after their 5-0 romp over Stallion Laguna FC last Wednesday at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa City, Batangas.
A brace by Ceres FC midfielder Bienvenido Marañon sealed the manita.
More than halfway into the first half, the Bacolod City-based went on a scoring spree with Marañon scoring his first goal in the 32nd minute, followed by fellow midfielder Mike Ott in the 35th and defender Carli de Murga in the 38th.
The Negrense side held on throughout the remainder of the half and went into the break with a 3-0 lead.
By the second half, recently-signed striker Robert Lopez Mendy added to his already impressive overall goal tally with another one in the 64th minute as Marañon closed with his second of the match in the 88th.
