Two former Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) directors and a deputy director were given special awards by President Rodrigo Duterte during the recent 118th Police Service Anniversary at Camp Crame in Metro Manila.
Former directors, Police Major General Cesar Hawthorne Binag and retired Police Brigadier General John Bulalacao, and former deputy PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Jesus Cambay, were awarded in recognition of their effort and dedication in rehabilitating Boracay.
Aside from their actions, the three were also recognized for protecting and preserving the island’s image as a safe place for both tourists and local residents.
Boracay was ordered closed for six months last year in order to rehabilitate the local environment. The island reopened last October with authorities taking a more stern stance in ensuring both visitors and local residents follow environmental laws./DGB, WDJ
