Bago City took part in the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill last week with around 9,500 joining the event despite heavy rains and strong winds. Among the participants included students, teachers, and government employees.
There were several “impact areas” identified across the city with drills conducted at each site including Bago City Hall, the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center, Ramon Torres National High School, Department of Education division office, Bago City Hospital, and Department of Public Works and Highways-Bago City office.
Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo said the drill will help inform the public on disaster preparedness and reduce the loss of life and injury in the event of an actual disaster.
SM City Bacolod also participated in the drill, where a total of 528 were evacuated from the shopping complex.
During the drill, the mall activated its emergency response team, where different units carried out their respective functions in response and clearing, setting up command centers, communication, traffic and customer management, rescue, extraction, and treating the injured./WDJ
