The Department of Labor and Employment’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program is expected to provide jobs for 1,232 displaced workers in Negros Occidental’s fifth congressional district.
Following a meeting earlier this month with Negros Occidental fifth district Rep. Marilou Arroyo, the government agency said 41 workers from each barangay in the district are entitled to jobs that pay a daily wage of P365 for 15 working days, along with eligibility for personal protective equipment funding and Government Service Insurance System benefits.
Jobs include debris-clearing, canal declogging, tree planting, seedling preparation, among other repair and maintenance duties.
“TUPAD is a great program that provides immediate assistance to the displaced workers by giving them income opportunities in the midst of emergency situations,” the congresswoman explained./DGB, WDJ
