The CEU Scorpions delivered a 107-46 thumping over the Nail Talk & Beauty Spa-St. Dominic Savio Unicorns last Thursday in the ongoing 2019 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Rich Guinitaran paced CEU with 19 points and six rebounds; while Malick Diouf supplied 11 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks.
CEU opened with 32 points in the first quarter while limiting Nail Talk-St. Dominic Savio to just two points—the lowest output in a quarter in league history. Their suffocating defense then forced their opponents to commit 35 turnovers, which turned into 45 points.
“I was worried that my players might take this game for granted,” said CEU head coach Derrick Pumaren. “They came to play and did not take it for granted.”
In the other game, TIP Engineers also destroyed their opponents, scoring a 133-98 win over Italianos Homme./ASC, WDJ
