Ceres-Negros FC, which currently leads the 2019 Philippines Football League (PFL), will be looking to extend their lead atop the table when they face Mendiola FC today, August 10, beginning at 4:00 p.m., at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa City, Batangas. The Bacolod City-based club currently leads the league with 25 points, three points ahead of second place Kaya FC-Iloilo.
Despite the 15-point gap between the two clubs, the Negrense club will be going into the match without defender Sean Kane and coach Risto Vidaković, who were both ejected from their previous match against Kaya FC-Iloilo.
While Ceres remains undefeated, opening the season with a draw and then delivering nothing but wins, Mendiola started slow and only recently notched three wins in their last five matches. In their last meeting, the Bacolod City-based club cruised to a 4-0 win with midfielder Bienvenido Marañon scoring a brace.
Mendiola FC, meanwhile, is coming off a 4-0 win over Global-Makati FC.
In other matches, Kaya FC is scheduled to play Philippine Air Force FC on Sunday, August 11, at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna./ASC, WDJ
