Following the robbery at Bacolod City’s Gaisano City mall earlier this week, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, Police Colonel Henry Biñas, has urged banks and pawnshops in the city to be on alert. Immediately after the incident, he called a meeting with all city police station chiefs in order to review security deployment plans.
The city police director said he does not want the incident to occur again.
Biñas added, he has requested the Philippine National Police-Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies to review the deployment of security guards at the city’s major malls after it was determined that guards at Gaisano City did not have service firearms.
Last Wednesday, eight suspects, led by notorious robber Marlon ‘Ailon’ Parojinog, entered Gaisano City and purchased several hammers and hard objects. The group then targeted jewelry displays inside the mall by smashing them with the said hammers, while another suspect allegedly drew a firearm and fired several shots.
The suspects managed to cart away around P4.5 million worth of jewelry.
Parojinog is also wanted in Manila after he led the robbery of the Metrobank-Binondo branch.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso offered a P1 million reward for Parojinog’s capture, along with the other suspects involved in the Binondo robbery.
The suspect is also said to be the leader of the Parojinog crime group based in Ozamiz City./DGB, WDJ
