The Bacolod Master Sardines suffered an 89-74 loss to the Caloocan Supremos earlier this week in the ongoing Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup at the Caloocan Sports Complex.
After Caloocan built an early 25-18 lead, Bacolod fought back and narrowed the gap to 34-32; however, the eventual winners went on to pull away to a 43-34 halftime edge.
Bacolod managed to get as close as six points in the third quarter but a rally by Caloocan pushed them to their largest lead of 79-58 with just over five minutes left in the final period.
The Bacolod City-based team then leaned on Nico Paolo Javelona to cut the deficit to 83-70 late in the period but Caloocan responded with timely conversions to increase their lead back to 15 points.
Rene Pacquiao and Damian Lasco top-scored for Caloocan with 14 markers apiece; while John Carlos Escalambre added 13; and John Ambulodto – 10./ASC, WDJ
