Following the recent series of violent events in Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) director, Police Colonel Romeo Baleros, yesterday affirmed police and military forces are in full control of the province.
According to the NOPPO chief, they have already taken the necessary steps to prevent violence in Negros to escalate further.
“We are still on top of the situation,” Baleros stressed.
He noted, the recent arrests in connection to the murder of four Ayungon police officers have contributed to the decreased chances of further violence.
Baleros also voiced his support for augmenting the current police and military presence in the region instead of declaring Martial Law.
Meanwhile, he dispelled any possible spillover of violence from Negros Oriental saying the chances were “very remote” due to ‘seal-off’ operations being conducted between the two provinces./DGB, WDJ
