Amid the ongoing clearing operations along Bacolod City streets, a response to a directive made by President Rodrigo Duterte in his most recent State of the Union Address, the city government announced they are considering the establishment of a weekend night market along Araneta Street at the corner of Luzuriaga and Gonzaga Streets.
With close to a thousand local vendors affected by the “no vending policy,” the city government may accommodate for the affected vendors by setting up the said market every Saturday and Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight.
“If [vendors] will be accommodated by the city that will be a good opportunity to them,” asserted City Administrator John Orola.
He added, there is currently an ordinance on books creating a weekend night market; however, he was unable to cite the specific policy.
In addition, Orola said the city market committee will schedule a meeting as soon as possible./DGB, WDJ
