Ceneco: Substations restored as of Monday

Following separate power interruptions that occurred from August 2 to 4, the Central Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. (Ceneco) blamed the incidents on bad weather conditions brought about by Tropical Storm Hanna, along with down tree branches in some areas.
They noted the Bacolod-Silay 69kV and Bacolod-San Enrique 69kV transmission lines were both tripped last Friday, August 2, which caused separate power interruptions.
The utility co-op explained, as the poor weather remained, incidents such as down tree branches, resulted in an intermittent power supply.
Ceneco noted, “As of August 5, Ceneco substations are completely restored.”
They also deployed crew to resolve individual complaints and to conduct tree clearing operations.
Last June, after Ceneco consumers in portions of Bacolod City were without power for around six hours, the utility co-op blamed the situation on “saturated bushing.” Bushing refers to an insulation device that allows for conductors to pass through a grounded barrier.
According to a Ceneco release, the incident took place at the 20 Megavolt-amp power transformer at the Mountainview Substation. The power circuit breaker was tripped around 11:37 a.m. and power was not restored until 5:42 p.m./WDJ
