A triple-double from Aaron Black pushed AMA Online Education Titans to a 110-92 win in the 2019 PBA D-League Foundation Cup over iWalk Chargers last Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Black registered 26 points, 16 rebounds, and 14 assists and, in doing so, became the third player in league history to rack up multiple triple-doubles after Mike Tolomia and Jeron Teng.
“Binibigyan ko na talaga siya ng kumpyansa (I really gave him confidence),” stated AMA head coach Mark Herrera. “Kilala ko na siya simula bata pa lang dahil naging player ko na siya nung 13-under (I’ve known him since he was just a kid because he was one of my 13-under players).”
After AMA built to a 14-point lead, up 81-67 in the fourth period, iWalk rallied and fought back and narrowed the gap to 87-83. However, AMA immediately responded by scoring eight straight points, capped by Dennis Santos’ three-pointer, giving them a 95-83 advantage with 4:54 left in the game.
In other results, BRT Sumisip Basilan-St. Clare Saints beat Hyperwash Laundromat Vipers, 129-72; and CEU Scorpions defeated Asia’s Lashes Soldiers, 107-77./ASC, WDJ
