Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia recently appointed City Planning Officer Victoria Parrenas as the new Bacolod Housing Authority department head. She assumed the post yesterday after the Sangguniang Panlungsod endorsed the appointment during their regular session last Wednesday.
The new department head comes in with 15 years of experience in government service.
Parrenas said her first order of business is to evaluate qualified relocation beneficiaries, especially after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered road clearing operations across the country during his recent State of the Nation Address. She noted, several informal settlers have visited the office seeking a spot at Progreso Village, a relocation site in Barangay Vista Alegre. However, there is an assessment required before permitting relocation.
The city official added, there are about 1,600 vacant lots in Vista Alegre but the area has yet to be developed./DGB, WDJ
