After 20 Negros Occidental students enrolled in vocational-technical courses left for the Dualtech Training Center technical school in Calamba, Laguna last June, the latest batch left for Laguna earlier this week.
The 30 students in the most recent cohort will be taught basic skills, industrial skills, personal development, along with lessons on digital electronics and basic automation.
The program seeks to produce high quality electromechanic technicians in response to a growing demand both domestically and abroad. Students will be taught basic skills, industrial skills, personal development, along with lessons on digital electronics and basic automation.
According to an earlier release from the Negros Occidental provincial government, the scholarship is aimed at “poor but deserving young Negrense men.”
Among those present for the students’ sendoff were Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Provincial Board Member Andrew Montelibano, Negros Occidental Scholarship Program head Karen Dinsay, Roger Sarmiento and Joaquin Heras of the Buglas Foundation, Inc., among others.
Before leaving office, former Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. signed a memorandum of agreement with Dualtech Training Center Foundation Inc. to provide the said scholarships./WDJ
