Iloilo City girls’ volleyball team hoping to medal

With the Iloilo City girls’ volleyball team currently undergoing preparations for the 2019 Batang Pinoy national finals, which are scheduled to take place in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan from August 25 to 31, middle blocker Amie Provido said they are looking to take home a medal.
“[Coach Bandoi Montilebano] told us that our goal was at least a third place finish,” she said. “We will go for the gold if we can.”
“It will not be easy but we will give our best,” the player added.
Joining Provido on the squad are Athea Aposaga, Vanessa Marie Diaz, Keiara Almirante, Dea Jane Canaya, Marianne Grace Calapaan, Pau Sampiano, Rovy Ann Amuan, Mary Flores, Lara Andrea, Alyanna Kaye Detablan, and Robielle Silla.
Around 189 athletes and 63 coaches are expected to represent the city in the week-long competition./ASC, WDJ
