De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde stretched their unbeaten start in the ongoing 95th NCAA senior men’s basketball season with a 77-72 win over San Sebastian College-Recoletos (SSC-R) last Tuesday at the San Juan Arena.
Unique Naboa top-scored for Benilde with 15 points on top of four rebounds, two assists, and two steals; while Negrense center Chris Flores chipped in 14 markers and five boards.
“What’s important for us is to stick together and find ways to win,” said Benilde head coach Tyrone Tang. “We were playing against a contender and we were able to hold them down so that’s good.”
Trailing by two with less than two minutes left in the game, Benilde took the lead with Jimboy Pasturan draining a top-of-the-key triple. Naboa then sealed the win with four freebies.
In the other game, Ilonggo point guard Edgar Charcos scored the game winner in University of Perpetual Help System DALTA-Atlas’ 75-73 win over Arellano University./ASC, WDJ
