Italianos Homme recently scored a 123-107 win in the 2019 PBA D-League Foundation Cup over the McDavid Apparels-De La Salle Araneta Stallions at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Martin Gozum ignited the Italianos offense with 34 points on 16-of-21 shooting, along with seven rebounds; while Paolo Pontejos produced 29 points, five assists, and four rebounds; Marlon Monte earned a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds; Francis Munsayac contributed 17 points; and Jan Colina, who plays for Bacolod Master Sardines in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, added 14 markers and 13 boards.
Italianos overcame a 78-64 deficit in the third quarter by launching a 26-7 scoring explosion behind Gozum, Pontejos, and Monte to take a 90-85 lead with 2:31 left in the period.
McDavid would clawed back and regained the lead at 101-100 with 7:20 left to play; however, Italianos responded with a 23-6 blitz to finish the game./ASC, WDJ
