Yanson: This act is illegal
Roy Yanson, president of Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI), parent company of the Ceres bus liner, yesterday claimed officials at the Dumaguete City Bus Terminal were committing illegal acts following a visit last Sunday, where the company president reportedly found terminal offices barricaded with heavy benches blocking the entrance.
“Our office is always open, especially during times of bus operations,” the company official explained. “It is always accessible to employees when and during office hours.”
“As president and a member of the board of directors, I have the right to enter our company offices freely,” he added. “This act is illegal.”
Yanson also noted, the barricade caused an obstruction to the fire exits, which he pointed out is a fire hazard.
Earlier, the VTI chief released a statement condemning the Police Regional Office-7 Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team for their alleged role in an attempt to take over the Dumaguete City Bus Terminal. According to the company official, police were reportedly involved in the intimidation and harassment of security personnel, along with making “illegal arrests.
Yanson recounted the incident from his perspective, noting, at least 20 SWAT team members and other police personnel arrived at the transportation hub, resulting in security guards being arrested, including those sleeping in the company’s resting quarters, and brought to the Philippine National Police (PNP) provincial headquarters on trespassing charges.
Yanson pointed the finger at former company president Leo Rey Yanson, his brother, and his mother, Olivia Yanson, claiming it all happened after their appeal for a temporary restraining order against the company president was denied in court.
In his statement, he also appealed for PNP Director-General Oscar Albayalde to conduct an investigation into the incident./WDJ
