The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers survived five sets in the 2019 Philippine SuperLiga All-Filipino Conference to score a 25-19, 25-27, 25-22, 18-25, 15-13 win over the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers last weekend at the San Juan Arena.
Following an erratic start to the fifth set, F2 Logistics turned a 10-7 deficit into an 11-11 tie after conversions from Desiree Cheng, Victorinara Galang, and Kim Dy. Angeli Araneta then knotted the score at 12-all but went down with an injury before the Cargo Movers delivered the knockout blows to wrap up the two hour and 42 minute battle.
Kalei Mau tallied a triple-double in the victory with 25 points, 23 digs, and 16 excellent receptions; while Galang put up 16 points; and Mary Joy Baron had nine blocks to finish with 14 markers.
“I told them that our opponents won’t give us confidence, it should start from us,” said Cargo Movers head coach Ramil De Jesus. “They didn’t show enough respect to Generika.”
“I think they lacked preparation,” he added.
In the second game, the Cignal HD Spikers pulled off a 25-20, 25-15, 24-26, 27-25 win over Marinerang Pilipina Lady Skippers./ASC, WDJ
