Yanson matriarch foils son’s attempt to take North Terminal

After the Bacolod City Regional Trial Court-Branch 53 earlier denied the request for a temporary restraining order (TRO) by Vallacar Transit Incorporated (VTI) President Roy Yanson against his brother, former VTI President Leo Rey Yanson, the latter also had an urgent motion for the issuance of a TRO dismissed last week by the same court.
Acting Presiding Judge Eduardo Sayson denied the motion, noting such a procedure is acted upon by the executive judge and not the court.
“The application for TRO has already been denied but, if there are new events that would take place, there will be new grounds for TRO,” explained the former company president’s legal counsel, Atty. Norman Golez. “It’s always an option.”
“The court [could not] find any basis upon which [they] can issue a TRO,” noted Atty. Sigfrid Fortun, legal counsel for the Yanson siblings, who control the VTI Board of Directors.
For Roy Yanson, after his request for a restraining order was denied earlier this week, he noted, “The order simply expressed the court’s preference to hear more about why we, the majority members of the Board, want to ensure that Leo Rey and his supporters are restrained from committing acts that do nothing but harm our company.”
Meanwhile, ahead of the hearing, the incumbent company president moved to take over the Ceres Bus Liner North Terminal in Bacolod City anew; however, his latest attempt was foiled by his mother, family matriarch Olivia Yanson.
Amid a commotion that erupted after employees allied with either side gathered in front of the establishment, the elder Yanson, along with the former company president, defended the transport hub and urged the current company head to wait for the court’s decision.
With the Dumaguete City Bus Terminal earlier taken over by Roy Yanson’s group, Olivia Yanson said she is tired of having to visit terminals whenever there is an attempted takeover.
According to Golez, despite the change of management, Leo Rey Yanson is still “in the hearts and minds” of the employees; however, Fortun said Roy Yanson is within his right to takeover the company’s terminals as his faction holds a majority on the board.
Some passengers noted, yesterday’s events affected their commute as it was difficult to queue at the terminal, along with encountering delays./DGB, WDJ
