Disaster risk reduction summit held in Bago City

Bago City hosted the 6th Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Summit earlier this week at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center. The event, which seeks to improve local programs pertaining to disaster prevention and mitigation, preparedness and response, along with early recovery and rehabilitation, was attended by city officials, barangay officers, emergency responders, and educators.
The summit was held amid the ongoing observance of National Disaster Resilience Month, which is observed throughout July.
Among those who spoke at the event included Department of the Interior and Local Government central cluster head Evelyn R. Vista,  Disaster Risk Reduction and Management focal person Annie Catherine Calderon, and Senior Fire Inspector Vencie Jojo P. Aldeguer of the Bago City Fire Station.
National Disaster Resilience Month, which was declared by President Rodrigo Duterte via executive order in 2017, seeks to “provide national government agencies and local government units ample time to implement their disaster awareness campaigns.”/WDJ
