A high-value drug target was killed yesterday morning following a gun battle with Victorias City Police Station anti-drug operatives during a buy-bust operation in the city’s Barangay 20.
Police identified the fatality as 30-year-old Roy Sanchez, a resident of Purok Par 5 in the said community.
Victorias City police chief, Police Lt. Colonel Eduardo Corpuz, said his undercover officers were conducting a transaction with the suspect when the latter discovered he was dealing with cops. He then pushed one of the officers and pulled out a firearm, forcing authorities to open fire, killing him on the spot.
Police recovered a total of 18 sachets of suspected shabu worth P600,000, along with the suspect’s firearm.
Meanwhile, the suspect’s family denied Sanchez fought back against police.
According to the suspect’s brother, Sonny, the police forcibly entered the suspect’s home. The sibling claimed to have heard the suspect cry and “beg for mercy,” along with voluntarily surrender, after which he reportedly heard several gunshots.
Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect suffered three fatal gunshot wounds to the chest./DGB, WDJ
