Governor: Duterte will continue to
combat illegal drugs, corruption

In response to President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address earlier this week, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said statement emphasized the president’s relentless pursuit against illegal drugs and corruption.
He also credited the president for placing a priority on “streamlining government,” particularly in his order for all local government units to have all clearances and permits processed within three days.
“In the end, I guess, we are all one with the president in his dream of a better Philippines; better than the one we grew up with,” Lacson added.
Last Monday, Duterte delivered his 4th State of the Nation Address, wherein he tackled issues such as illegal drugs, corruption, peace and order, and the West Philippine Sea. In addition, he pointed to his achievements, such as the rehabilitation of Boracay, the “Build, Build, Build Program;” and an improvement to government responsiveness.
The governor noted, the address provided a direction on what to expect for the government over the next three years, which is expected as such speeches typically review an administration’s accomplishments and goals for the future./DGB, WDJ
