Pinoy undercard boxers claim victories

Filipino boxers Genisis Libranza and John Leo Dato won their respective undercard bouts, held immediately before Senator Manny Pacquiao’s split decision win over American boxer Keith Thurman yesterday morning (PHT) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States.
Libranza, a native of Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur, who opened the bout by pummeling American fighter Carlos Maldonado with combinations, scores a fourth round technical knockout win after pinning his foe to the ropes, prompting the referee to stop the fight.
The Pinoy boxer improved his record to a 19-1-0 record, including 11 stoppage wins; while Maldonado dropped to an 11-4-0 record, with seven knockouts.
For Dato, he faced Mexican boxer Jose Antonio Lopez and stretched his unbeaten run with a fifth round stoppage victory after dropping his opponent to the canvas with a crushing body shot.
The result was his third stoppage win in his last four victories.
Meanwhile, Jayar Inson, who was initially set to meet Mexican boxer Mahonri Montes but was later pit against Sergey Lipinets of Kazakhstan after the latter’s original opponent, American fighters John Molina, Jr. withdrew with a back injury, suffered a second round stoppage loss./ASC, WDJ
