After a flight route between Bacolod-Silay Airport and Clark International Airport was announced in December 2017, Cebu Pacific Air earlier revealed they would be offering flights between Clark and both the Bacolod-Silay Airport and Iloilo International Airport starting next month.
The development was received with optimism by the Department of Tourism-Region VI (DOT-6).
“The new flights will be of great help in increasing tourist arrivals in the Western Visayas,” explained DOT-6 director, Atty. Helen J. Catalbas. “Aside from the existing flights to-and-from Clark, these new flights will open up the Western Visayas to more investors and could provide more options to travelers.”
The region currently offers other connections to Clark International Airport, including Kalibo International Airport; Godofredo P. Ramos Airport, or Caticlan Airport; and Evelio Javier Airport, or Antique Airport
The Antique-Clark route opened last December.
After initially approving the route, DOT-6 had been assisting the province in improving tourism capacity.
“It’s high time for Antique to have its own direct flights.” Catalbas said at the time. “We want to prepare all tourism stakeholders in Antique by conducting trainings and producing promotional materials.”/WDJ
