The Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City will serve as the home venue for the Philippine national football team, the Azkals, for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification round for the Asian Football Confederation, which is set to begin in September.
“The Rizal Memorial Football Stadium is unavailable as it is being prepared for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games,” explained Philippine Football Federation General Secretary Edwin Gastanes. “The Azkals [will be] playing their home matches at the Panaad.”
The Azkals are drawn in Group A alongside China, Syria, Guam, and the Maldives. They open their campaign on September 5 against Syria.
The competition will also determine qualification for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup./ASC, WDJ
